About the Team:

Your involvement will touch many areas and form part of the full life cycle production; this will incorporate contributions to design, build, and OSS systems. Additionally, you will identify, diagnose and fix faults. You will be an integral point for operations, the wider business and will interact with many different teams with differing specialisations and 3rd parties. You will be part of a talented team of engineers that with a mission to deliver critical infrastructure, ensure the highest levels of availability, performance and security.

Your Role:

With your technical expertise, you`ll oversee the Smart Metering platform that makes up the `Smart Metering infrastructure`. The unique design encompasses many technologies from a diverse vendor set. The prime role is to provide front line operational capabilities - from a 1st / 2nd line perspective working shift in a 24x7 NOC environment. However there is also a level of project involvement.

Responsibilities:

-Monitoring live operational alert screens, raising trouble tickets and resolving faults and managing the escalation
-Operational Readiness Testing and providing support for the project from build through to live operations
-Training and mentoring to other members of the team
-Testing of hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc.
-Researching and recommending innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks
-Investigating and troubleshooting issues
-Repairing and recovering from hardware or software failures
-Performing periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
-Maintaining security, backup, and redundancy strategies
-Liaising with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

-Ability to assess various Key Performance Indicator Metrics and connect the dots between a technical and service management view
-A leadership mentality and an ability to garner a holistic view on network incidents
-A forward thinking approach in terms of leveraging OSS toolsets to work smarter rather than harder
