About the team

We are the Telefnica Supply Chain team. We manage the end-to-end supply chain for all customer products (including mobile phones, SIM cards, tablets, and accessories). Your role

The role is responsible for ensuring accurate forecasts exist for a defined portfolio of products and/or sales channels. Forecasts will be created and measured against a variety of time horizons, including short term in support of supply planning and stock purchasing, mid-term for Telefonica Group negotiations, and long term to support Telefonica budget and planning processes. Building collaborative relationships with sales channels, commercial and marketing teams, measuring performance and driving continuous improvement will be the keys to success.

Responsibilities

Long Term Forecasting
Support the relationships with Group Devices (GDU), Finance, Business Intelligence and Strategy teams, collaborating and contributing to the budgeting and strategic planning processes.
Store agreed long term forecasts and provide reporting and insight of actual performance against them, highlighting key differences to the appropriate teams.

Mid Term Forecasting
Support the relationships with GDU, UK Devices, Commercial and sales channel teams, collaborating and contributing to quarterly planning processes.
Ensure the required information is provided in a timely manner from GDU. Use the forecasting software to validate, support and add insight to the process. Collaborate with the Commercial team and sales channels to provide an accurate and timely response to GDU.
Store agreed quarterly forecasts and provide reporting and insight of actual performance against it, highlighting and explaining key differences to the appropriate teams.

Short Term Forecasting
Develop short term demand forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function.
Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, evaluate forecast results and optimise product launch/withdrawal forecasts.
Interact with Sales, Marketing, and Channel teams to understand demand drivers; how the product portfolio mix, tariff & pricing structure, promotional & seasonal strategies and their sales targets, translate into forecasts for product and provide insight using the demand planning tool to drive improvement.

Use and maintain the forecasting software as the primary system tool, ensuring the tool is optimised to provide high quality and relevant output. Use this to gain forecast inputs, forecast sign off, and to communicate demand forecasts to the Supply team.
Provide input to the Supply team on existing items, new product introductions and phase-outs, and promotions to explain the forecast.

Reporting
Produce scheduled and ad hoc reporting as necessary to support the understanding of performance, root cause analysis and continuous improvement. Share reporting with key stakeholders, tailoring the communication to them.
Run the wider Supply Team KPI reporting function using outputs from multiple sources, managing Access Databases and utilising power pivot functionality within Excel.

Continuous Improvement
Continuously seek improvements and opportunities in all elements of the role.
Understand true demand and how the portfolio mix, tariff and pricing structure, promotional strategies and sales targets translate into forecasts. Use this data to drive continuous improvement through the demand planning processes including local UK demand for both new and used devices as well as providing data in support of GDU conversations.
Use all information at the disposal of the team to optimise performance of the tool.
Document a roadmap of change which spans performance, processes, reporting, decisions and systems.
Coordinate the delivery of change where required, documenting the project plan, actions, benefits and deliverables. Keep all stakeholders up to date and escalate issues appropriately.

Demonstrable Experience

Essential
Significant experience in a supply chain environment, with proven experience around demand planning/forecasting processes and systems.
Proven ability of building and maintaining internal and external relationships.
Confident communicator with proven negotiation and influencing skills.
Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent numeracy, analytical and problem solving skills.
Advanced Excel knowledge incl. PowerPivot functionality and Macros.
Strong Access Database knowledge.

Desirable
Practical and technical experience of supply chain planning systems, especially ToolsGroup SO99+.
Project management skills.
Commercial awareness.
Experience of BI reporting.
Grade: MPG4
