Applying for a store role? Here's how!

Home > Our Blog > Applying for a store role? Here's how!

We are always looking at innovative ways on how we attract top talent to join #Teamo2 in Retail, with this in mind, we have partnered with Predictive Hire to deliver an engaging FirstInterview experience for our candidates. This forms part of our application process and will be the first interaction you will have with us.

Why FirstInterview?

The FirstInterview has been built on a foundation that centres on a DNA profile that combines our core values and behaviours with the key attributes that we look for in our people. We feel that this will really help us to identify top talent to join us as well as supporting us to recruit faster and fairer as we strive to build a more inclusive Teamo2.

How does it work?

Once you apply you will receive an email with a link to take you to the FirstInterview.  It can be completed on a mobile, tablet or laptop and it will take between 20-25 minutes to complete.   It is really simple to use and one of the benefits is that it is not time bound so you can take your time and go back to it if you are interrupted or you want some time to think about your answers.

Please take a look at the video which will give you more information as to how it works and what to expect.

When you are finished this will be submitted to our Resourcing Team who will be in touch with you around next steps of the process.

Want some tips from our team?

Advisor — Tiah

“I joined O2 without any experience in telecomms - and my background is in cosmetics and beauty. But, I believe that all customer experiences are about how you make the customer feel, no matter the product, and I think that’s what’s behind my success connecting with customers and providing great service in our London - The Strand LEAP Connect Store.”

Guru - Kiera

“I’m a guru in the O2 Lisburn store in Northern Ireland, but my experience comes from working in event management. The most useful thing I brought to my role here was my organisation skills, and ability to plan a guru event and deliver the Why O2 message at super short notice. I think that leading a team means understanding that each person requires a different approach, and I’m pretty good at adapting my leadership style when it matters.”

Assistant Store Leader - Tajah

“My background is in the floral industry, but I definitely share some skills between working at O2 and being a florist. The most important one is the ability to create a rapport with customers from the first moment, and I know that customer relationships are built on trust. In my previous life, I helped organise large events and weddings, which means I’ve already got plenty of skills in multitasking and ‘on-the-spot’ problem solving that I can apply to shop floor leadership.

Store Leader - Mark

"If you are thinking of applying for a role at O2, just do it. If you are thinking about being a Store Leader there are a few traits you will need. You will need to be outgoing, willing to listen, to share stories and to learn from others in your team and across the business."
